Finally sharing the first room tour of our house a mere 2+ months after renting it out to complete strangers (*real tears*) and starting with the dining room because that stopped-in glass used to stop my heart every morning.

With the exception of one of the books on the credenza and the New Mexican pottery gifted by my husband’s family, every single item in this room is secondhand. I’m inclined to say the massive table my grandfather had built for my grandmother’s inordinately large breakfast nook is my favorite item, but my design process for my own home is such an act of collection and discovery that it’s hard to unbound any single item from my sometimes irrational emotional attachment.

Some favorite pieces and their sources:

  • Cantilever chairs from Chairish, actually a wedding gift from my mom
  • The vintage scarf I stitched onto linen and framed
  • Tiered brass chandelier that we got from a vintage reseller on Instagram

When we first viewed this house I wasn’t sold on it. Usually I’m the one who sees potential in a dilapidated space but my husband actually had to convince me on this one (I generally treasure everything vintage + original + loud but it had sat empty for 5 years and was a real wreck, inside and out). Now that I’ve put my heart into shaping the house I am warmed and excited by it daily, though the couple who built it really set us up for success with their incredible architectural choices.
